Contemporary pet portrait artist based in Grafton, Wisconsin

Nicole Conner is a Wisconsin-based artist whose work is rooted in a lifelong connection to animals and a background in fine art and design. She paints the thing that makes you stop and look twice — the quality of attention in an animal's eyes, the particular way they hold themselves in space. Working in acrylics on gallery-wrapped canvas, she builds each portrait through layered color and expressive brushwork, finding the inner life of each animal rather than just their likeness.
